The security allowance may be used by the owner for any additional charges accrued during your trip. Some examples include:
- Minor damages
- Gas fees that are not settled in person
- Cleaning fees that are not settled in person
- Additional time out on the water
These are the most common claims for the security allowance by owners for additional post-rental charges. Please note that GetMyBoat will only charge you the security allowance once a trip is completed and the owner has put in a valid claim for additional payment. The security allowance is NOT included in the price the owner offers you and is NOT charged at the time of booking. However, GetMyBoat may charge you up to the maximum of the security allowance if an owner provides evidence for a valid claim.
Finally, the security allowance is for additional charges only. It is important to understand that GetMyBoat does not allow owners to take "deposits" to hold a reservation. When you book, you will be booking the full price of the charter at the time of offer acceptance.
We hope this helps answer your question. If you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to email us at support@getmyboat.com!
